The game rental place a block or so away rents movies for a dollar a night.  I proceeded to get at least one every night for a month.

The ones I remember liking off the top of my head, in rough order of how much I liked them:

Scott Pilgrim VS the World (Orders of magnitude above the rest.  Bought it, watched it every night for 5 days, in addition to all the commentary and trivia tracks.  Getting the comic and game soon.)
Inception (twice)
The Social Network (twice)
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (would have watched twice if it were a tiny bit shorter)

I'd test your luck for some Red Dwarf or Black Adder episodes/movies; that shit is fucking hilarious.
Hayao Miyazaki (?) anime is also pretty fun and not too hardcore, namely "Nausicaä and the Valley of the Wind" or, "Princess Mononoke".
The Bourne Identity and sequels are entertaining and action-packed as hell.

There are probably a few more bouncing around in my braincage, but it's getting real late...

I second Red Dwarf, and in lesser extent Black Adder.

Me and my friends recently had a great time watching 'You don't mess with the Zohan'. But it's kind of risky, as it is a very specific type of humor. I can't put a name on it, sorry :p

If your hanging out with dudes you could also go the classic guy movie route. Some Rocky, Predator and the like.

Also, as some dude stated above. Watch Rome (The TV series) It's awesome.

 I can barely remember any movies at all, despite having far too many viewings with my parents, but Bicentenial Man and What Dreams May Come seem to stick out as having very little corruption (i.e. I did not have to spend all my dreams the next night cleaning up, only some waking minutes). I second Spirited Away, and the other primary Miyazaki movies, for individual moments, but I find the arching plot distorted there.

That movie is hilarious, and one of the grossest things ever.
