Good movies.
« on: August 23, 2011, 01:40:30 am »

It is 4:38 pm, Australian time, Tuesday.
Bored, so planning on going and renting a crap load of movies, inviting over a small army of friends, telling them to bring snacks, and spending the night not watching the movies. Still, just in case we do bother to watch them, what should I get?

For a small army of friends, Sucker Punch will probably work pretty well.
Is Sucker Punch out on DVD yet? I don't actually know (not that legally released dvd's are completely unknown here or anything).

Death to Smoochy.  Edward Norton + Robin Williams.  Plus it has John Stewart in it if you are a Daily Show fan.

Remember that you can stream movies and shows depending on where you live. Most TVs can be connected to and play audio and video from a computer, via a cable that you may or may not have lying around.

Just remember that it would be legally grey to do so in this situation.

Maybe it's parasitic. It never loses its flavor because you eventually die from having your nutrients stolen by it.

Zardoz. It's got Connery, how can it go wrong?

If you want a genuinely good weird movie, then I recommend Brazil.

It is?

Somebody better inform Sony of this.

If you want dark comedies set in Britain, I'd suggest Snatch.

If you want old black & white movies with important implications about how the justice system should work, I'd suggest the 1950's version of 12 Angry Men.

If you like awesome cult classic horror films, I'd suggest Event Horizon.

If you want to never sleep again, I'd suggest The Descent.

If you want crime dramas that alternate between gritty and hilarious, I'd suggest Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

If you want a revenge story, I'd suggest Kill Bill.

If you want to see a film where the most interesting and amazing character is without question the main antagonist, I'd suggest Inglourious Basterds.

If you want anime, I'd suggest Spirited Away.

If you want to be depressed forever, I'd suggest The Road.

If you want to see a gritty crime drama that is just plain cerebral and amazing, I'd suggest No Country For Old Men.

If you want to laugh at zombies, I'd suggest Zombieland.

If you want to laugh at people being killed by zombies, I'd suggest Shaun of the Dead.

If you want to just watch some goddamn zombies, I'd suggest either version of Dawn of the Dead.

There, there has to be something on there you find interesting.

Metal Slime Hunt, you have a fine taste in cinematography. You had 4 or 5 of my favorites on that list :D  :D     I would definatley recommend spirited away, if you are going for action, then Kick Ass, for a musical I would recommend Sweeney Tod: Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
