I tried usind a floodgate in order to wall off my artefact vault but when I arrived as an adventurer to claim the goodies inside I pulled the lever to find the vault empty and the contents scattered.  What ways are there to prevent items being scattered upon abandoning the fort instead of using a wall?

Heavy bins and help reduce the distance of movement.

Would using a drawbridge work?  They count as a wall when up don't they?

Drawbridges count as walls when they're up, but something being sealed in by walls doesn't stop it from being scattered. Heavy bins help reduce the distance of movement. Other than that, nothing really does.

I've heard that you can use DFlair to keep this from happening, if you don't mind a little 'cheating'.  I haven't tried it myself yet, so others will have to tell you how.

Dflair works, so do lead or golden bins.
