I appreciate the help, but apparently what I wanted to do was impossible =P

I wanted to assign certain items to certain dwarves to wear, without it having to be a uniform (EG: More important the dwarf, the more protective the clothing)

You do know that you can set up uniform forms? Such as one for heavy armor and swords, another for light crossbowers, and yet another for pigtail-covered civvies? Or even a civvie covered from head to toe with steel? And it can be set up by either squad or inviduals? You don't really have any alternatives if you want to dress them up.

It would be nice if there was some option on the equipment screen to set up a civilian uniform, but it's already been mentioned that automatic replacement of clothes are still bugged so you would have to wait for that to be fixed anyway.

Currently the only options are to have everyone in inactive squads, one for each 10 dwarves, with some of them having the title militia captain instead of their real job; or dwarves in rags/running naked.  It's not good either way.

I had a tigerman get elected mayor and he promptly mandated 3 bowls of cereal.

Yeah, I'm not talking about civilian uniforms.  I'm talking about nobles.  I guess it might be worth it to protect them though.  Most of them just sit in their saferooms with all of the essentials, and only leave to drink and eat.

I guess I probably don't need to worry about them too much.  It's 3 candy doors and a candy hatch to reach them from the top, 2 candy doors + an army from the bottom.  I'm just afraid one of them is going to walk out at just the wrong time and get cleaved in half.

Talking about uniforms, there's a way to copy/paste or replicate the default uniforms (like leather armor) in order to customize them?
Because in the default leather armor there is, for example, leather legwear, headwear etc., but when creating a new uniform I must choose specific clothes (altough I can choose the material), like leather trousers or leggins, but i can't use generic legwear or handwear

Just add the item without specifiying a material. So if you put in "leggings" they'll wear leather, copper, iron, whatever.
