I've currently got two plump helmet men cooking in the arena. I'll check back on them in a few hours.

Recalling Boatmurdered, could you make the PHM punch invaders until they caught on fire? All burn.

I figured that you could release one at enemies, the enemies will kill it, and its corpse will light 'em up.

Have you got a sea? You could build a lighthouse with caged !!PHM!! as a light source.

Actually you could use them as lamps in your fort as well.

Should they prove to not be everburning after all, one would need to devise a system wherein a new "PHM-power cell" is taken from the stockpile, set alight, and loaded into the lamp post.
Lamp posts in your fort! It's like Steam Punk, only with Plump Helmet Men instead of steam.

Maybe less than a few.

100 fps * 1.25 hours [1:15] (I started a good while before posting) = 450,000 frames = 13 months, 11 days.

Still burning. Function loss everywhere, but still burning.

There must be some way to hook them up to a gear assembly. So much energy goes to waste.
I can safely predict that the future dwarven cars will be running on !!PHM!!

You can get some Plump helmet man plump helmet man tissue if you kill it.

Good reason as any to bring back philosophers to figure out the meaning of that.

I'm voting smoke generator.  Any breathing creature exposed to too much smoke will suffer breathing issues, pass out, and eventually die.  If you have any zombies around (think about upcoming curses) you can mix your smoke and your miasma and pipe it through the floor.

Well, if !!PHM!! can't be used to directly set enemies on fire, why not just use a pit system to throw them into a prison made of lignite? You could throw a party of prisoners down there, then watch the panic as everything starts burning.

Has anyone seen if lighting them, extinguishing them, then lighting them again has an severely adverse effects?

Lignite is expensive.  A wood stockpile or grass field will suffice.  Especially since you can flood it, muddy it, and grow cavern grass on it.  Slow reload, but free.
