thats why I don't like trading in DF, all I produce is mugs.. thats boring.

Produce something else, then.  Like prepared meals.

Stones other than obsidian are a limited resource... technically.  So you'll run out of those in some distant century, anyway.  Food is forever.  So are wood, clay and sand (on appropriate maps), thread/cloth (both plant- and animal-based), leather/bones, and... obsidian, if you have a river, brook, aquifer, or cavern lake that touches the map edge.

Out of those, the biggest, baddest, easiest, most profitable thing you can churn out by the dwarfload, all day long, every season, every biome, forever, are prepared meals.
