Seven Pines is next.

Seven Pines, May 31st 1862.

General Joseph Johnston attacks Union forces outside Richmond(Our capital) Under the command of Union General George E. McClellan.

Principal Commanders: Maj. Gen. George B. McClellan [US]; Gen. Joseph E. Johnston and Maj. Gen. G.W. Smith [CS]

Forces Engaged: (84,000 total)

Estimated Casualties: 13,736 total (US 5,739; CS 7,997)

Description: On May 31, Gen. Joseph E. Johnston attempted to overwhelm two Federal corps that appeared isolated south of the Chickahominy River. The Confederate assaults, though not well coordinated, succeeded in driving back the IV Corps and inflicting heavy casualties. Reinforcements arrived, and both sides fed more and more troops into the action. Supported by the III Corps and Sedgwick’s division of Sumner’s II Corps (that crossed the rain-swollen river on Grapevine Bridge), the Federal position was finally stabilized. Gen. Johnston was seriously wounded during the action, and command of the Confederate army devolved temporarily to Maj. Gen. G.W. Smith. On June 1, the Confederates renewed their assaults against the Federals who had brought up more reinforcements but made little headway. Both sides claimed victory.  Confederate brigadier Robert H. Hatton was killed.

Result(s): Inconclusive

This scenario is much more of a battle, over half the units will be reinforcements. Because of this I will allow people to claim A) Divisions and B) whenever new reinforcements arrive.

This one will be alot slower due to this.

1:20 PM

Hill marches his forces out of the woods towards Seven Pines and encounters Union artillery and a redoubt. The redoubt is named 'Casey's redoubt'.
Confederate artillery fires back at the federal guns, neither side has marked an advantage in fire yet.
The infantry move to the edge of the woods and prepare to assault the redoubt.

2:00 PM

Confederate batteries are taking heavy fire from the entrench federals and are making no progress in suppressing them. He decides to assault the redoubt with his superior numbers.
The right flank moved first, Rhodes and Rains brigades marched forward in line formation and took fire from a single Union brigade supported from the rear by entrenched artillery. Rhode's brigade fell back from the fire, the rest of the division marched out into the open to assault the guns.

2:20 PM

The fighting around Casey's redoubt continues as Hill's men have formed a long battle line around the redoubt. Casualties are being taken and the Union forces haven't yet broken.

2:40 PM

Smith's Division arrives in the north.

The fight around Caseys redoubt extends further, with the Confederate infantry being unable to totally break the Union defences, but the Union brigades are beginning to waver.
Rhode's brigade on the southern most flank charges the redoubt with bayonets fixed and manages to drive the artillerymen out.
Whiting and Smith capture Fair Oaks rail depot and encounter 2 Union brigades.

3:00 PM

Smith and Whiting's corps engage the Union I division, it appears they have the numerical advantage.
At Caseys redoubt, Union I division are moving to reinforce the federal guns at the fortification.

Union forces around Caseys redoubt have broken, however Hill's corps are exhausted from the effort and need a rest.

4:00 PM

In the north, Whiting and Smith break the Union forces loitering east of Seven Pines railway station.
A Union brigade retook Caseys redoubt from our forces, but we continue to lay the fire on them.

Hills division begins to pull back from assaulting Caseys redoubt. The Union have managed to bring up reinforcements to the line.
Wilcox division arrived however to reinforce Hill, even the odds some.

East of Fair Oaks railway a battle rages between comparatively equal forces Union and Confederate.

4:40 PM

Hills division attacks again, with the fresh division under the command of Willcox in support.

East of Fair Oaks station the Confederate divisions are driving the Union off.

5:20 PM

Hill and Willcox's divisions continue to push the Union west of Seven Pines. They are making progress thanks to the flanking position of Willcox's division.

An attack on the redoubt by Pryor's brigade ends in the bloody surrender of the Union brigade defending the position. Over 600 Yankees are taken prisoner.

6:00 PM

The battle ends in a debatable Union victory:

Confed victory points - 34
Union VP's - 50

The main reason I lost was due to the casualties taken trying to take that goddam redoubt. :(
