What files and items do I need to edit in order to generate worlds with fewer z-levels? Frankly, I'm tired of needing to drill down ~150 z-levels for magma.

This doesn't really answer your question, but if you embark on biomes with several soil levels, you get far less depth overall.

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.

Generate new world with advanced parameters.  Go down the list until you see cavern layer stuff, change the number of layers to 1 (0 if you dont care about underground plants/trees/life), then tweak the number of levels between layers to get something you like.

Just try it! Its not like you die IRL if Urist McMiner falls into magma.

Perfect, exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks!
