I'm pretty sure he can be an excellent manager/bookkeeper!
Or a Captain of the Guard... unless he bites some poor sod's throat out for breaking a production order...

Ah, so doing paperwork doesn't just require no paper or writing materials, it doesn't require arms either.

Yeah, It only takes a brain that works.  :D

Your dwarves have brains? Must be a mod, after all the channeling incidents and unsafe construction removal procedures I'm pretty sure that my dwarves didn't come with those.

The great gulf between memorization of long lists and problem-solving/planning?

Aaahhh, a handless veteran, but I think my crossbowdwarf Olon from yesterday's fort was more badass:

He was a legendary biter and kicker by the end, but the Tigerman Swordsmaster who maimed him got away.

His death came not from bloodloss, but from madness

Assign him a burrow in Clowntopia and give him a warrior's death.

He can't walk.  I think he's just going to end up dying there of thirst trying to grab his equipment with his missing arms. :(

I am just giggling my head off at this mental image.

I think Dwarf Fortress may have given me a new sick sense of humour.

I assigned a one-armed, one-legged veteran  (lost them to a cave crawler) to Captain of the Guard once. He took to his role with vigor, and proceeded to seek justice on all who had committed a crime before he was assigned.

Did I mention I had just begun recovering from my first Tantrum Spiral?

He hobbled about and beat 8 dwarves to death before one went berserk on him and ripped his last arm off.

Just an update, I tried moving a goblin cage to the caravan for trade, haha.  The goblin got out and axe murdered the armless dwarf.  I wasn't sure whether to kill the goblin or give him an award, but I ended up killing him.

by the way, the screw pump concept was a pain in the ass, especially since I had to do it up 2 z levels and automate it via a 2 windmills linked together, all things I haven't done before.  But the result was a nice waterfall going through my main work area and my dining room.  Almost flooded it on accident though, luckily I tied a lever to the main gear assembly.
