Forgotten Beasts
« on: October 08, 2010, 05:14:02 am »

I walled up most of the entrances to the caverns. I've always had FBs spawn from unblocked entrances, they path to my fort, get killed and turned into 5*200 bolts.

This FB spawned from one of the sealed entrances. Will it go away on its own, or stay there forever?

This is a feature, not a bug, correct?
You're playing Dwarf Fortress.  There isn't much of a distinction.

In my experience, it'll be there forever.  Make it a zoo.

I think FBs can knock down walls, though im not certain; I know for a fact they can bust through locked doors and such.

I can also tell you they wont just wander off. I had an Alligator FB living in an underground river for years and years - he never seemed inclined to come up to the surface even though my dwarves wandered past him all the time.

Nothing can knock down constructions.

They can't destroy what has been build from the b-C menu. So as long as there are only walls they will stay forever and eat some cpu cycles. But most likely less cycles then killing them would consume since that would lead to dwarves splattered with blood.

Y'all ever seen the enclosures zoos use to keep big cats?  Big, wide moat surrounding a "habitat" with a fence for the onlookers.  I like to build something like that for my resident forgotten beasts.  I line the walls of the visitor area with caged colossi and hydra.
