Naming weapons.
« on: September 12, 2010, 03:42:15 pm »

Hello, I have just two simple questions.
How do I get my dorfs to name their gear?
AND is possible to name my gear in adventure mode?
I wait for the answers, thank you ^_^

A weapon needs to have a few kills to be named, I do believe.  You can check a weapon's kills by inspecting it, via dwarfs inventory if they're holding it.

In Dwarf Mode happens only if the weapon is an artifact (which means that it needs to be made by a dwarf with one of the moods and most of times it will suck because  it will be made of some unsuitable material) or, more rarely, if a dwarf uses the same weapon for a very long amount of time (not sure how long, though).

They just have to use it for a while and probably has something to do with dwarf preferences.  I have a half dozen named weapons in my military and one of the hammers has only one kill.  The dwarf who has been carrying around the same axe and has 36 kills on it hasn't bothered naming it.  It's only 1057 in my fort and a some of these guys have only been carrying around their weapons for a couple years so it doesn't take long.  They are all legendary on their respective weapon skills, which probably does have something to do with it.

For some reason only one axe has been named, the rest are hammers.  I don't think that has anything to do with anything, just coincidence though.

I don't understand, though that is about right with anything DF related.
I just hope he dies the same death that all dwarfs deserve: liver disease.

you don't have to have any kills on the item to get it named
I would know because every bloody dwarf in my army has decided to name their weapon AND their shield... half of them haven't even seen combat yet

It sounds like they are really bored.

Seriously though, if we can't already name our weapons in adventure mode then someone should post it on suggestions.  I've got a large copper dagger with 100 human kills (and a hydra!) to its name record, and I'd like to call it "Lady McUrist".

Dwarven economics are still in the experimental stages. The humans have told them that they need to throw a lot of money around to get things going, but every time the dwarves try all they just end up with a bunch of coins lying all over the place.
