Even if for some reason he completely halted development right here and all we got was the bare-bones terrain generation/alteration stuff, that's still well worth $10.

He's going for full source release, rather than the API route.

I suppose someone would create an api and library once it's released, then.

First release!  And source!

I think this is an earlier version of the engine than seen in the later dev blogs?

I expect we'll see more in time, personally I think he should go for another round of funding after the more recent engine builds go out.

Yeah, it's an early version, because that's the one everybody asked for, me included.

Personally, I just find the new engine to be ugly in comparison.

Agreed, but so much more potent.

I think people will build cute little things with the iso engine, but could make amazing things with the latter ones.

I'm imagining a space game with fully realized o'neill cylinder or stanford torrus... the complex shape interactions raise huge possibilities.

Much like this thread, Voxel Quest is an undead project.

Gavin has had to go get a real job, but he's released every version freely to the wind. In a few weeks, I'll find the time to compile a version or two and see where I can go with it. If nothing else, it looks like the absolute most fun procedural generator sandbox...
