I've had considerably worse performance overall. Of course my entire machine is a piece of garbage lumped together for the sake of HAVING a computer, but still, I thought most of the laggier stuff had been changed to reduce it.

I got about a 40FPS increase with 0.31.03. That's pretty big.

I lost about 40 fps when 31 came out, but smaller embarks are more viable now so it evens out.  It'd be interesting to see if there's some common factor among those who lost fps vs those who gained.  Maybe there's some new multi core support Toady hasn't mentioned in detail yet.  I'm running on single core...

Well, I have a pretty high-end dual core PC, if that matters any (ATI, too).

I've noticed less FPS for the same empark tiles.  A 5x5 emark got my 45 FPS.  I doubt it's the magma pipe I have.  However

31.x is slower for me that 40d, but not unbearably so. Given the choice of merging the 40d changes first or fixing the bugs first, I'd rather the bugs be fixed first.

FPS feels a tad slower for me, and I'm playing with smaller embarks than 40d. Then again, I'm playing with twice as many zlvls as well.

The merge should help.
