too insane is the best excuse ever.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

It's about time babies learned to clean themselves... damn freeloaders.

People who have more experience than I with programs like Dwarf Therapist have said that this occurs because the condition flag that marks a dwarf as being an infant and gives it the proper behavior restrictions is part of the same set of flags as the various insanity states (Berserk, Melancholy, Babbling, Traumatized etc).

Apparently, the game is set up to spit out one common error for any condition from that set.

I suppose it was probably set up the same way in the last version; it just never showed up before because infants didn't have a task to queue and then cancel.

Turns out, in real life, you can also get out of your tasks by claiming to be too insane. But there are consequences!

have this problem also, and the baby is perfectly normal.

apparently choosing to be an infant is considered insane by the dwarven board of health (true so true).

I've had the insane babies too. I have no idea what causes it, but it's funny. I also have this:
