maybe , maybe , it still a bug that the creature spawned with a very old age , and yet is still a young

I'm somewhat certain this is the case; I've experienced similar occurrences with a race modded to live ten years and grows up in 1. Children who arrive with migrants shortly after the first of my children are born in the fort die before the first children born in my fort do, showing that their lifespan has been stunted.

Yeah, I'm out of ideas.  Maybe cages turn into time warps or something.

They can nullify a dwarf's injuries until he gets out, apparently, so they're like cryogenic freezers.
