I would give you more info, such as what you asked for, but I don't want to spoil it for you.

You'll have a fight on your hands at some point. And there is info in the wiki. I remember reading it 3 months ago.

Adding civs is easy.  Look at the wiki modding guide and make sure they all have different entity names.  Or just download Orc mod or Relentless Assault.

The world map and other civilizations are in progress, like everything else, so they exist but don't do much.

And goblins will be * for a while but when * arrive and start to attack you they will turn *.

I tried not to spoil exploration for you :P. You can guess what * mean easily if you really want it.

I don't have the world anymore.

But it was pretty easy. Just go into "create world with parameters" and enter advanced parameters of a existing template (taking care not to overwrite the default ones like i did) and just scroll down to "desired evil square count in small/medium/large subregions" and crank that mother up high! .. it'll be a world filled with ruins and decay. what little squares that are usable by humans, dwarves and elves will be fiercely competed for and many civs will be destroyed. i cranked the civ number up to 50

... make sure that "playable civilisation required" is set to "yes" because otherwise the dwarves might have been completely annihilated (which they sadly were when i played) and you can't embark ... i guess.

I believe you can embark. You just won't have a home civilization. There are certain penalties associated with that.

If you demand too many starting civs and don't leave enough places for them to spawn, the world will never generate. You'll just have infinite rejections.
