It actually sounds pretty horrible. I mean, I can laugh at a death if it's Spelunky and I invested all of 5 minutes into the game. But if I spent six months with one character and lost it all because some jackass thought I wasn't roleplaying right, or because I accidentally walked into a lucky monster, I'd just quit then.

Better to not even sign up.

Second, I understand what they're trying to do with the free email thing, but it's so stupid it alone would keep me away. You make an online thing, you either restrict it to your friends or you assume some scrubs will get in. They're trying to get the best of both worlds. But there are ways around the whole email thing, so they're not even keeping out the clever griefers.

Hey, wow, this actually sounds really interesti-

Dartmud does not accept registrations from AOL email addresses. We also do not accept registrations from free/anonymous e-mail providers such as hotmail, yahoo, email.com etc. Many of these addresses are blocked. If you do manage to register with a free e-mail address, your character is subject to deletion without prior notice.

... >:( Whatever.

My primary email address for nearly 10 years has been a hotmail one. What do they expect people like me to do?
I know you can play unregistered characters, but it seems like they're locked out of a lot of features, so what's the point?

What? Dammit, how do they expect people to play, then? Why don't they like accounts with these kind of mailsystems?

And yeah, after reading some stuff on the wiki and here, doesn't sound like the greatest game. Or even a fairly good one anymore.

To DekaFu:
Yeah I had forgot about the mail thing, personally I used T-Mail to sign my account up.

To jnecros:

There are maps on other sites, but the when traveling out in the game or 'hexes' as it is called, You can only see as far as you characters eye sight allows you. From being a short-sighted dwarf to a far-seeing elf.

To Cthulhu:
To my knowledge there is only one Catfolk that is like that in the game and she only gets flirty after talking to you for awhile.

Also all the guilds, castles are player run. The cities are npc run though.

To Lumim:
I respect your opinion, but don't advertise another game in my thread.

To LeoLeonardoIII:
You are looking to much into it, no one is going to be anywhere near that strict. Also unless you are actually looking for such a monster I doubt you will run across one. I mean you literally have to climb a mountain to get to one of the few dragons in the game, or dig to the bottom of a mine to get to a pitfiend.

Although I will say that the creators decide to have some fun, although thats if you are deliberately ticking them off. I have had a creator make it rain organs of the current race i was playing, then eat the heart in front of me

To Dr. Johbson

The wiki is more of a oh this is interesting site, not a place where you go for information. I'll post the help files in the first page if you want, although that is also accessible from the games from page.

So what emails work then since that list has most of the ones I know of, though I wonder if sbcglobal (branch of yahoo) might work.

I'm not quite sure to be honest, if you have an email from your phone that would work for sure. Give me a moment I'll ask around the Dartmud forums to see what I can get.

Sorry for the double post but found something prevelant, if everyone finds it agreeable I'll add it to the fp.

Charter and Comcast both provide e-mail accounts to anyone with their internet service that are not freemail. Come to think of it pretty much anyone who doesn't use AOL as their ISP should have these available to them. They're really easy to set up too, usually just need to hunt down your account number, go to your ISP's website, and you can set up a primary account and e-mail accounts.

Now when it comes to advertising... I have no idea, but for a while I was using my parent's comcast e-mail to play.
