I actually recommend The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath. It's not as long winded as people say.

If you're also looking for similar stuff by people other than Lovecraft, try reading The City of the Singing Flame.

I still can't get through most of his Dream Cycle stuff, including The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath.

The Strange High House in the Mist is pretty good, though.

You might want to look into Robert Bloch and Clark Ashton Smith too. They were both friends of Lovecraft and both wrote horror/sci-fi in a similar vien.

REALLY? I thought he was talking about canned soup.

Yet, he still points out that "that is not Lovecraft" despite the Necronomicon reference in Army of Darkness. Which, everyone knows, took the "special words" from Day the Earth Stood Still.

I assume that you are not familiar with either Lovecraft or Raimi's reference to it in the Evil Dead series.
