Poor kid
« on: May 28, 2009, 10:44:01 pm »

I was messing around in a human town trying to lop off limbs without actually killing the people, but sometimes I'm not successful and the people bleed out/get their heads chopped off. Later with the same adventurer I go to a tower and ask some prisoners to join me. Well it turns out that I killed the mother AND father of one of the kids that joined me. three minutes later a dragon lights him up. poor kid.

Dragon lights him up?
That's pretty merciful.
I had a child join my party once. He got beat up by a groundhog and was in pain on the ground. I ended up striking a final blow on him. A single deft swoosh through his head with my sword. Also, his civ got wiped out by elves. I kept the bismuth bronze mask he had to honour his death.

So you killed him and nicked his stuff? Brilliant.

I once had to hunt down a giant alligator in a swamp.

When I got there, somewhere off in the distance it was tearing apart a little Kobold child.  The beast took nearly 15 rounds to strike the killing blow on the wee bugger.

I decided to end the pain of a poor giant, lying alone and injured down in his cave.  I raised my axe... and cut his arm off.  Oops.  Try again.  Raised my axe... cut his lower left leg off.  Oops.  Cut his body.  Slashed his other arm open.  Removed an eye.  Damaged his ears.  Damaged his other eye.  Broke his skull.  Pierced a lung.  Removed his foot.

At this point, a swordsman who was travelling with me decided he had had enough.  He swung his sword, and removed the giant's throat in one hit.

Which just goes to show that swordsmen have good vision.

Just that the RNG favors the NPC's.

WHAT.
There is more of them. So more of them get high rolls.

Yeeeah. Sarcasm. I know it can't be read well, but there was a rather appropriate face.

Sometimes I swear the game just loves torturing people. Whenever a villiger is down, ready for the kill, it just makes you horribly mutilate them till they finally die of blood loss.

Not cool DF, not cool.

More like AWESOME.

And it happens pretty frequently when your wielding a choppy weapon like an axe.

Sometimes I like to perform those rare mercy killings, usually on Lizardmen or Kobolds that I just broke EVERY limb of, and choked near to death.

Sometimes I kill them with the one hit to the next, lopping off their heads, fairly much in pity to the extremely crippled writhing form at my feet.

Other times...

You hack the Lizardman in the lower left arm!
It flies off in a bloody arc!
You hack the the Lizardman in the lower right arm!
It flies off in a bloody arc!
You hack the Lizardman in the lower body!
Its intestines shoot out through the wound!
The Lizardman vomits.
You hack the Lizardman in the lower right leg!
It flies off in a bloody arc!
The Lizardman has bleed to death!

As you can tell, I'm fairly perturbed about mutilating opponents that just lie there in agony as I hack them to pieces.

Not perturbed enough however to proceed to break every limb, slowly, of the next Lizardman I see however.

it would be nice to have the ability to aim your blows, if only as an option

I personally prefer:
You hack at the wolf in the upper body with your Steel Axe!
It is cloven asunder!
The wolf is propelled backwards by the force of the blow!
The wolf slams into an obstacle and blows apart!
The wolf has been struck down
