strange engraving.

I just got this engraving:

"Engraved on the wall is a masterfully designed image of Kumil Mirrorposts the dwarf and Sibrek Menlashed the dwarf by Onul Sazirdoduk. Sibrek Menlashed is striking down Kumil Mirrorposts. The artwork relates to the killing of the dwarf Kumil Mirrorposts by the dwarf Sibrek Menlashed in Footterrors in The Insightful Stoked Horns in 26 during Zokum Geb "The Siege of Denting"."

WTF?!

You turned SHOW_ALL_HISTORY_IN_DWARF_MODE to YES in the init, didn't you...   :)

Seems like at least one of your dorfs listened in the history class.

Its just showing one of the kills that happened during a certain siege. Fights between entities and sieges are named and kept in the legends mode, and dwarves may engrave these if they have knowledge of them.

The reason a dwarf is killing another could be have many origins: Berkserk rage, traitor dwarves on the goblin ranks, etc.

not as strange as them engraving the death of a dwarf that happened in that fortress when there was no one else around:

"Engraved on the wall is an exceptionally designed image of Iden Hamecraters the dwarf by Sibrek Doduklist. Iden Hamecraters is burning. the artwork relates to the heat-induced death of Iden Hamecraters in Priestgilt in the late Autumn of 68."

who in the world knew that I had executed him when he was locked in alone?!

Dwarves do everything with spores, from communicating to mating. Gives a whole new meaning to "dirty talk".

No, a strange engraving would be one depicting the death of Ignis McNoble in 229.  Engraved in the year 228.  While Ignis is still alive.

Must have been an elf-goblin war.  I don't think getting hit by a fireball (from a demon leader) counts as getting killed by the launcher, although the elf could have caught fire by standing on an elf that had been killed by a fireball.

I'm waiting around for the engravings of one of my dwarfs killing another dwarf during a sparring accident.

It counted as a notable kill, and worst of all, it was his own wife.
