Interesting update on the stockpile thing. I know for sure they still mess around with mining, but I didn't know they don't effect fire anymore.

Still, paving a barrier of ground around the splash zone should not be too much of a problem.

I would bet money Andrew has edited things retroactively, except I can't prove anything because it was edited retroactively.

Aluminum melts at a pretty low temperature, so yeah. Not like any sort of road would do much to stop magma anyhow.

Magma, no. Fire, yes. Paved stone roads stop wildfire very effectively. I'd suggest making the paved road border more than 1 thick in case the heat conducts past the road enough to ignite more grass.

Wait, it DOESEN'T burn trees and shrubs?

I just need to stop this torching my dorfs and bait animals.

Elves do it in trees. Humans do it in wooden structures. Dwarves? Dwarves do it underground. With magma.

You say that like setting the world on fire is a bad thing...

I just want to start a flame in orc heart.

Wait, it DOESEN'T burn trees and shrubs?

I once had a tree growing in my outdoor magma (aka lava) tube. I was anxiously awaiting the puff of smoke from the magma turning the tree into ash... but was sorely disappointed. The tree actually stopped the magma flow. So I had to turn off the pumps and wait for a 10-tile stretch of 7/7 magma to simmer down :-[

I shoulda just left the pumps going and turned a peasant into a woodcutter...
