Ill do this one differently, Ill follow a unit and its actions, until it is eliminated or wounded, then pick another.

Our first unit is:

The 1 NY Brigade, under the command of 2 star general David Hunter, In the Army of the Potomac commanded by Irwin Mcdowell.

September 1861 -

The army prepares to Invade the south, McClellan has taken over command of the Army of the Potomac, Mcdowell moving to command the far smaller West Virginia army.

We occupied Kent to the south east of washington, then returned to Washington to Continue training.

November -

The Army of the Potomac is a sight to fear now, and washington is filled with heavy artillery batteries for defence.

January 1862 -

We still havent attacked the rebels.....

March -

Nathaniel Lyon in the west has struck south and seems to have the western Confederate armies beat, hopefully.

The Army of the Potomac has crossed the Potomac and moved west to Harpers Ferry, Preparing to attack towards richmond.

Thats all so far...

I know that the pictures don't tell us a lot, but including them might make it slightly easier to follow.

May 1862 -

The 1st NY remains in Harpers Ferry

June -

Corinth Missouri falls to Lyons troops, the mississipi seems to be lost to the Confederacy.

The 1st New York are marching with General David Hunter as the Army of the Potomac marches towards Manassas Junction in Virginia. The Junction is the main line towards Richmond and the most logical way forward. General McClellan commands the attack.

The battle is close, but McClellans army was unable to drive the Confederates from the field. Confederate general Longstreet was in command. The Union lost 10,160 men and the Confederates 13,600. Manassas remains in Confederate hands.

David Hunters division was one of those decimated, however the 1st New York survived the battle to fight on.

Well my computer needed a reformat and amongst the stuff I lost was the save for this, so I guess our journey has come to and end!! I don't think many people were interested to begin with, but I think a couple of us enjoyed it ;)

I hope those few of us enjoyed it! I certainly did :)

I'm going to be honest, whoever wins this, I'm still rooting for Ohio. Go Buckeyes!
