Fish with no river?
« on: October 10, 2018, 03:42:08 pm »

So, I Read somewhere that you can't fish in cave pools. And my fortress does not have a river above, and even If It had, the raining elf blood wouldn't allow my fisherdwarves to fish (not to mention the corpses moving around). My theory is: Can I dig my cave pool till the end of the map and turn it into an actual river so my dwarves can fish? Or am I doomed to have no sushi in the fortress? Also, Is it really true that one cannot fish from cave pools?

Yeah, there's plenty of information out there, but you don't need that information to form an opinion and then defend it to the death.

I don't know where you've read it, but I've certainly managed to fish in caverns - heck, you can fish pond turtles in 1-tile artificial ponds. Assuming you have preexisting populations of fishable vermin, mind. Of course, they'll probably run out.

I don't know if connection to map edge has any effects on cavern lake populations.

Cave Fish and Cave Lobster come from Water That Is In Caves.
