I don't know if to make the robots weaker then the avrage prairie dog so the first village have a chance or we want him to fall.
But beside that it's great

But beside that it's great

Making them tougher and stronger (but not by much) that the average prairie dog seems better.

If the first village falls the second will prepare for the battle and probably get help from the third so it would boost combat and cooperation.

Also at making them a hard fight the prairie dogs will be forced to do better than the robots because this time their numerical advantage doesn't help much.

Mutators
Introduce prairie dog sized aluminum pikes into the habitat. Make them accessible safely for the dogs, such as next to burrows or under bushes.

In the lower ranks of dog society introduce swords and armor. Encourage them to become top dog.

Introduce a mob of competing herbivores/omnivores. Rabbits, rats, moles, maybe a Cow and some pigs.

Introduce a competitive species to the environment for the prairie dogs to fight. Meerkats, maybe? Something that won't kill them in droves, but will provide enough of an annoyance or threat to get them to deal with it.
