Interesting Gods
« on: April 10, 2016, 03:59:15 pm »

What gods have you found in your worlds that have sparked your curiosity?

The dwarf goddess Tumam the Guard of Blockades (charity, sacrifice, generosity, valor) – She actually is quite popular among humans, even having a temple in one city.
The rotting human goddess Emung (death, poetry, writing) - the goddess of emo poetry
The human goddess Palath (earth, theft) - I don't even know. What a pair of completely unrelated spheres.
The giant bat god Rusna the Painted Skies (sky, rainbows) – Why is a giant bat the god of rainbows? Good name, though.
The rotting human god Mup (creation, rebirth, death, disease, deformity) – I imagine this guy as a two-sided god, being a god of both creation and destruction.

EDIT: I have more!
The rotting dwarf god Zimun the Esteemed Legend (fortresses, war, death, blight) - He's the god of sieges. His nation was conquered by elves, though.
The human goddess Kashi the Wispy Dessert (agriculture, dreams, night) - The name. Those spheres. Kashi. What even.
The human god Fensast the Hardiness of Ferocity (storms, revenge) - The best god.
The human god Thran the Nut of Stilling (consolation, fertility, food) - The wimpiest god, and from the same nation as the above.
The rotting human goddess Kasat (death, murder, forgiveness, mercy) - A very confused goddess. I could see her having a depressing origin.

I had a god of mountains and fortresses named "Zon" or something silair (it was in an old world) he also brought a demon into the world so "fortresses may be tested".

I devoted a temple to him with statues of him, dwarves and his angels, and it was made of mirocline it was great.

I had a Sky goddess shaped like a dragonfly, she liked cursing people and had over twice as many victims as the rest of the Dwarven pantheon combined by the time I started my first fort on that world.

The God of Hospitality, Tom, while usually a fun loving, welcoming deity, gets mighty pissed off at anyone abusing the hospitality of temples and is responsible for a fair few of the vampires in my world.

I had a human god at one point who had 10+ spheres, but they basically boiled down to storms and dance. He dances in the storm clouds. His steps are lightning, his footfalls thunder.

I had a human goddess who had 8ish spheres, who was the goddess of rainbows, art, happiness, and inspiration. So the sweetest possible diety. Didn't even curse anyone, but she had like 6 different forms of music/poetry dedicated to her.

I had a dwarven god of wealth and fire named Kovest. I imagine he was secretly a dragon.

"First and last" was a reference to the first god's (Emeg's) comment which I didn't feel like typing again.

From a modded game, but still funny.

Apparently, on this world one can be impressive enough to inspire worship by doing nothing at all.

Some godly science:
 - Death gods are always depicted as rotten or skeletal.
 - Sky gods can be any flying creature.
 - Cavern gods can be any cavern creature.
 - Mountain gods can be any mountain creature.
 - Plant gods can be any herbivore?
 - Body of water gods might be able to be any creature from that body of water?

Some confirmation on those questions would be nice.
