You haven't noticed this before? When multiple characters are talking, their lines begin with a colored number, and that character's icon blinks the matching color and number.

so he's having a conversation with someone because the number stuff is basically to differentiate which one is in a convo at the time.
pink might mean they either wearing something new, or changed professions like into a maceman or something.

Yeah, that was the first thing I said, but when he said it was blinking all the time, I mistakenly assumed he meant blinking pink all the time and blinking with the number all the time.
