Abandoned houses
« on: January 06, 2016, 12:25:26 pm »

So I embarked in a tropical biome and in one corner of the map are these houses made out of troll fur (?!) and spider silk with camp fires burning next to them, yet there are no inhabitants in sight.
Do they belong to some animal man civ or tribe?

Sounds like a camp, which I think are left behind sometimes when a travelling group or invading army forget to clean up after themselves.

The troll fur and silk "houses" are actually tents.

I'm curious, can you deconstruct them? if so what are they made of? silk and fur blocks? or are they permanent map fixtures? if you can't deconstruct them can you cave in the ground under them? what happens then? inside the tent is it counted as light or dark? subterranean or above ground? can you build a bed inside and designate a room?

This sounds neat, I wonder how you would go about finding some.

One of the dwarfs walked in front of Thor to get a better view of the prye, and Thor kicked him irritably into the middle of the flames, which made Thor feel slightly better and made all the dwarfs feel much worse.

Can you deconstruct them?
Yes.
If so, what are they made of? Silk and fur blocks?
No, silk and fur cloth. (There's no other way to get fur cloth, AFAIK.)
If you can't deconstruct them, can you cave in the ground under them?
Yes, and it is treated the same as any other construction - including cave-in dust.
Inside the tent, is it counted as light or dark? Subterranean or above ground?
Light, Above-Ground (these two are always the same. You never see light subterranean or dark above-ground), and Outside (strangely enough).
Can you build a bed inside and designate a room?
No, since it is Outside. However, it can be used to make an archer-proof vomitorium - roofs make things Inside, and as such do not reduce Cave Adaption, but the inside of tents do.

Research: Try carving "fortifications" aka cutting holes in the side.
