No NPC movement?
« on: June 18, 2015, 04:10:42 pm »

I recently played Dwarf Fortress for the first time in adventure mode. While playing I noticed that none of the NPC characters in buildings moved. Are they forever static or will they move eventually?

Some move, most don't. Sorry.

Will they still not move even if there is an enemy in the room?

No, they'll run away if they get scared, but that's really the only time the move.

That is game breaking for me. I'll have to stick with fortress mode.

They move slightly more than they did in the previous version. Wandering around their towns and all. Some will actually tell you that they are out for a stroll if you talk to them. You can even find people traveling between sites looking for work and places to trade. What kind of movement were you expecting? Like the way dwarfs are constantly moving in fort mode?

I too find it a little bizarre that nearly everyone in the world just stands around awkwardly in their little communal homes. I don't think we'll see expanded movement of peoples until they have actual jobs to do, which is still very far off dev wise.

Non-historical figures won't do much.
