They're basically the same thing...

I would say that each are different from the other, but only due to the general goal of the work, what with the hunter trying to do the minimum damage needed to the prey, the miner trying to remove everything, and the lumberjack trying to remove a section so it can be moved...

But as designated defenders both miners and woodcutters carry tools that can be functional weapons, albeit somewhat awkward in the case of picks... If we need to designate a militia to defend the camp early on they would probably be the first on the list, though fishermen with their spears would probably also fit the roster...

The fishermen are gatherers, so so I think they are called here. But good point, thats who I was thinking  of in any case.

The gatherers collect some fungus, but their new sustainability policy, along with the wolves creeping closer, significantly affects the amount collected.
The woodcutter finishes chopping his tree and officially joins the ranks of the skilled with a green woodcutter's headband! He moves into the forest along with the previously-gatherer, who has picked up the new axe. They start chopping separate trees, all the while preparing in case they need to use the axes on wolves instead of trees.

The digger finishes the ditch, but doesn't have time to make a hole for the plant.
The same two grab the woodcutter's logs and haul them over to continue the wall.
The forager by the river finds another worm. He notices that this portion of the river is starting to be depleted of easily catchable creatures.
The miner tears some more vine off and turns it into rope. At this point, considering how much of the plant has been torn off, it might be a better idea to get a new plant to plant inside the trench.
The used-to-be knapper pulls up some long grass and start trying to weave a net. It turns out that this is really hard, and he comes to the conclusion that there's no way it'll be able to hold a thrashing fish or anything of the sort. Should he even bother finishing it?

The clan decides to catalog their resources.

The Weaver should instead attempt to make some rope.
The Miner should head into the forest to get a new plant, since we messed the old one up.
The Fisher/forager should start looking farther downstream.
The Digger should dig a hole within the ditch for planting a new bush.

The scorpiwolves are too close. If those things can make it across half a screen in a turn, they could catch up to those guys. The foragers and woodcutter need to come back.

The miner should bring the bush's remains into the fort.

Attempt to wind the rope around some sticks to make a net.

Use the grass as tinder for a fire since it doesn't seem to be strong enough for a net. Preferably away from the forest and those flammable-looking twigs.

Attempt to wind the rope around some sticks to make a net.
Alternatively, weave twigs into a wooden basket which could serve a similar purpose to a net.
