Alex tries to move forward, but Andrew is in the way. Instead, he fires a burst at the nearest insectoid.

The creature nimbly sways out the way of stream of lead, but a pair of grenades, courtesy of Rohim and Martzel, are sailing through the air towards the monsters. They clatter to the tarmac.

Emma Harris: (12to20) - 2 = 16 - 2 = 14
Zombie A: (12to20) = 16
Whether by poor luck or some vestigial self preservation, Rohim's grenade meets the zombie's leg, and is booted back towards the operatives! Before Emma can even shout danger close it detonates, sending razor shrapnel shredding through her. The zombie takes similiar damage, and it proves too much for it. It collapses.

It's not still for long, though. The blast of the second grenade is hardly dispersed when the zombie stands back up. It steps forward. It twitches.

It bursts, chitinous limbs ripping free. A new chryssalid, pink with the gore of the shredded host, emerges. The pearly white teeth grin, promising horror to come.

And then there's no more time, as the creatures spring, limp and skitter and their intended victims.

The creatures rip into their victims with brutal effeciency. Martzel manages to land a solid blow, crackling the carapace, before his assailant drags him down. Everett's shots merely glance off the curve of the monster's head, and Emma has no time to steady herself from the grenade before an steel-hard calw smashes her door.

The chryssalids looms over their victims, preparing to begin zombification of their victims!

Elsewhere, the snakemen saw their prey disappear back into the dark. With a hissed command, they followed.
