Think of it: in good biomes only, instead of breaching Hell when you mine into the adamantine pillar, you receive a message: "An unbreakable stone floor has been found by the miners! Once you hit enter, you get the message: Strange music can be heard from the wild! Then angels would proceed to assault your fortress in three waves: first, a wave of ten soldiers and thirty workers, then fifteen soldiers and twenty workers, then finally, the Archangel, riding on some great creature, such as a cave dragon, dragon, hydra, maybe even a magic creature like a gryphon or chimera, the chimera being basically a Forgotten Beast. This would make you have a supply of divine metal weapons, armour, cloth, and maybe even bars, if each assistant carried one bar. This would make it somewhat harder and somewhat easier than fighting demons: an endless supply of demons, some of them rather weak, but stocked full of abilities, versus a finite amount of fleshy, well armoured, talented enemies. Imagine the rage fun! provided by being invaded by angels, when many probably didn't know they existed. Exceptional and master crafted steel could most likely be equal to the divine metals, since my dwarves put a master work bismuth bronze spear over a basic steel spear. But then getting your forges making master crafted divine metal weapons and armour and adamantine, you could probably arm half a large military better than steel. But they'd only attack when biomes are good. I'd imagine this might cause problems in the rare good+evil biomes. Maybe twice the rage fun!? I don't know. I thought of it while fighting some angels in my fortress-made steel arms, being a near equal for a soldier one-on-one. Thanks for reading! Sorry it was so long.

Hmm, why would angels show up in good biomes? The deities aren't intrinsically good, a lot of them have rather evil spheres, especially the ones that help demons (and thus create angels to guard the evidence).

I think that if you want to have access to divine materials it would be cool to be able to get them straight from the source. Please a certain deity enough by building temples and making sacrifices or whatever and they will gift you some divine materials and maybe even some of the angel servants for use as guard 'animals', and maybe even angel soldiers once multi-racial forts are supported.

This would also be cool because it gives the game an excuse to generate new creatures and materials in the midst of a fortress mode game if the deity in question hasn't helped a demon in the world's history (they would be retconned into existence). It would also be cool if the assistant creatures came with randomly generated useful things such as milk, eggs, wool since they count as 'animals'. Imagine being able to shear shells off of a minion of crafting, or milking a servant of the god of merriment for high value booze, jewels and wealth workers laying gems into nest boxes or an assistant of music that gives a happy thought to dwarves with its singing.

Words.
That's a good idea, but maybe also you can piss off a deity, making it send its angels to kill you.
Maybe that god was angered when you started worshipping a rival god, wich may cause both angelical armies figthing all over your fort, all very destructive funny.

Maybe you could piss off deitys by not worshipping them, in wich case (very late gameish) they may send you a warning and a ridiculously hard demand, if you don't make it in X period of time, he'll send an angel siege, causing your fort to fall, or to you defeating them, in wich case the god will leave to torment someone else, possibly kobolds.

My second turn's unnoficial goal was to turn everyone into vampires, and it backfired so bad, I ended up making the fort a more efficient, safer and friendlier place.
Apparently they evolved a taste for everything I love and care about
