Quote
I noticed a lot of people saying they were disappointed in the last few seasons because they weren't as 'funny' as the original run and were laden with topical pop-culture jokes.  Apparently these people didn't notice that Futurama had over a hundred episodes before it was canceled the first time, maybe half of them actually memorable, and all of them chock full of what were topical references a dozen years ago.  I thought the last few seasons were just as entertaining as the old ones

Honestly the last season felt like they came from a pile of unused scripts that they wanted to play but they just weren't good enough. Hence why a lot of them felt regressive or WAY too late to be topical.

To me the problem with the last season isn't that it was "topical" it is that it is untopical yet trying to be topical. It was trying to be touching but is not touching. In other words it tries to hit but just misses.

Which is a HUGE shame. I mean shows will have slumps... but to have a slump on the last season after being revived?

Oh, there's a season 7-B. How weird. Haven't seen any of those, so I guess I can't comment on the last episode.

And they left it open with the last few lines of the episode :D What Farnsworth says at the end can mean a reset to episode start or the start of the series, if he had conceived of the ten-second time reset device way back at the start.

Digging's a lot like surgery, see -- you grab the sharp thing and then drive the sharp end of the sharp thing in as hard as you can and then stuff goes flying and then stuff falls out and then there's a big hole and you're done. I kinda wish there was more screaming, but rocks don't hurt so I guess it can't be helped.

I really enjoyed this viewpoint on Futurama by the Idea Channel on YouTube:

Is Futurama the Best Argument Against Transhumanism?

I'll have to catch the last few episodes if it's finally been completed. I only ever watched up to the series unofficial ending.
