MMM Scorecard and Discussion(ooc)
« on: October 02, 2012, 02:49:35 pm »

I've been tossing around the idea for a little game in my head for a while now. I've been playing some basic games that have these simple story modes and campaign settings with weak achievements and I was thinking that we as DF players could easily make something just as good(if not better!). Community games and Succession games are great, but I had a different, more user friendly, way in mind.

The idea is that I would start with the role of the Mountainhomes here in the thread, and give in character objectives to complete in their own game of DF. It would be along the lines of one simple, and one complex goal. For example, create an underground plump helmet farm that is at least 3x3 in a soil layer with a single door entrance(simple), and create an underground/aboveground surface field at least five z levels down from the surface growing strawberries.

Then, the idea is that you go into your own games, or make a new game, using whatever graphic sets, mods, even full open cheats if you wish and obtain screenshots of you building, and eventually achieving the goals. Then you post them here with a little bit of story explaining how it went and so on.

After a day or so, I will post an update thread in character, and choose my personal favorite of the posted results. The favorite gets 2 points, all others who successfully complete a goal get 1 point, and +2 points for a completed advanced goal. Then after listing such I would give the next set of goals.

We set a point goal to maybe 50 or 100 and the one with the most points gets recognized in the opening thread, and is given the option(if they want) to be the next mountainhome roleplayer and give out goals(so I can play a bit as well).

The idea is that we eventually build a story here in the thread with our posts. I'll have characters thinking up reasons for these strange requests, while the various players will be able to develop their own characters or not as they wish. The game is very flexible and can happen with many players, or just a couple. There's no real limit on people participating, as each new goal can be completed or skipped until the next in your own games.

So, anyone interested?

Alright, got a few people interested here. I'll probably give it another day for people to take a look at(so tell friends). Then I'll start up an in character/game thread and rename this one to ooc/discussion.

Ok, started things up over here:

After the first goals are complete, I will make up a scorecard in the opening post here, and we will go from there.

Posted my first story.
I just downloaded vanilla DF and of course used Dwarf Therapist.
Mining out 50x50x2, makes a butt-load of rocks by the way.
Going to take another year just to CLEAR the warehouse of debris.
I went straight into mining the warehouse, no effort into defense, probably will bite me in the @$$ later.
Guess I'm waiting for next challenge, not sure if I should just cont. playing until new challenge, my fortress will probably die by the next post if I do that.
