mekboys build the stuff and maintain to it to a much greater degree. All orks have the knowledge, it's just mekboys can utilise that to build gargants, etc. Ork clans have slight differences: the bad moonz, for example, have faster growing teef, so they're richer than other orks. The blood axes are all sneaky-like, so they've got a much higher proportion of kommandos.

Its not a clan that would land, but a warband. A Waaaagh! would be too large.

I believe in Gorkamorka fluff, an Ork space ship crashed on a desert planet due to orks being bad at steering, or something. The Mekboyz that survived the crash said "Ok ladz, go get us some of da scrap of da ship dat's scattered across dem deserts, and we'll remake our spaceship! Bigger and better!". However, Orkz being Orkz, the boyz got bored without a fight, and eventually formed into 2 warring factions, each devoted to one of the Ork gods: the Gorkas (Cunningly Brutal), and the Morkas (Brutally Cunning). Eventually, the mekboyz managed to rebuild the ship (And named it Gorkamorka, to appease both clans), but when the clans boarded, shit went down and they started fighting, eventually managing to break the whole ship once again, and scattering even more scrap over the wastes. The Mekboyz still want to rebuild Gorkamorka, but since the last ship got torn apart, both clans have held a grudge (Dey broke our ship! Da bastards!), and spend more time bashing each other than looking for scrap.

In terms of rules, it's 2nd ed 40k, pretty much. If you've played Necromunda, it's that, but with less pinning and more vehicles.

Unfortunately, I never picked up the fluff for Diggaz, Mutiez and Grot Rebels, so I can't elaborate there. I should probably go download the Digganob rulebook.

Mmkay. What's teef?

Teef are Ork Teeth. Orkz use Teeth as currency

Oh, and Necromunda's awesome and everyone should play it. From what I've seen of Gorkamorka, it looks funny as hell, and everyone should play it.

So. Today is the day I choose.

Imperial Guard Battleforce + Codex

OR

Tyranid Battleforce + Zoanthrope

Or I could go totally outfield and buy a Space Marine Battleforce and totally confuse my friend.

Imperial Guard Battleforce + Codex
It's terribly late, but Imp. Guard would be my first choice should I ever decide to get my own set.

I actually went in half-and-half on the Dark Vengeance set (And got a squad of Chaos Raptors), so I'm going to get some Chaos Space Marines and show my friend how Space Marines are meant to be used. He always pussy-foots around in our battles, hiding in a little corner and forcing me to come to him.

Nah, fuck that. Space Marines are the Sword of the Emperor, not the Shield. They specialize in rapid, overwhelming assaults on the enemy leadership. Or at least, my Chaos Marines will, what with having served under Horus and all. This way, I can get NORMAL Spess Mahreens, and say they are from Renegade Chapters, or Fallen, in the case of Dark Angels. Then I can get some Guardsmen for my cultists, and I will have a unique, heterogeneous force that is mostly codex compliant. The Space Marines would just 'Counts as' and the IG might be Allied Detachment, or vice versa.

Next purchase will be an Aspiring Champion, because he looks AWESOME, a Terminator Lord kit, Ahriman, and unit of basic Chaos Marines. Maybe some Khorne Berserkers or something if I'm feeling like spending ALL my money.

... show my friend how Space Marines are meant to be used...

Hear hear!  I've seen the mewling marine phenomenon also; I think it's the crossroads of analysis paralysis and hyper-acute loss aversion.  It's a game about endless war, for fuck's sake...  go kill something!  lol

... are from Renegade Chapters, or Fallen, ...

You could do Red Corsairs, as they take in renegade recruits from all over. That would give you a lot of latitude in army composition, and in painting...  you could do up every single model from a different origin chapter (if you really wanted to), just need to mark them Corsair with some red Xs over the Imperial heraldry.  The proper Chaos Marine models would be Astral Claws alumni (iirc their renegade colours are silver and red), and you'd still be able to add in any specialists you wanted, such as Berserkers, Sorcerers, daemons, etc.  The Huron sculpt is pretty decent too.

He always tries to set up the terrain strictly for his benefit. Then he complains that he never gets to assault me, he's always on the defensive. Well, let's turn that shit around. I'll 'be on the defensive' exactly long enough to let him get into easy charge range of my fancy pants Raptors.

This would be very good, I think. I like this idea. I like characterizing my forces, giving the leaders names and such, so it would make it more fun to model them each specifically with this in mind. Tyranids, sadly, are lacking in the 'Character' department.
