My queen (a spearmaster in active service herself) has been attacked by her soldiers, for no apparent cause. Details below.
My fortress has two squads of professional soldiers, one armed with hammers and the other with spears. I made the queen of my civilization a spear dwarf.
As far as I can tell, there are no were-dwarves or vampires at loose in my fortress, given how there have been no recent immigrants and no untoward affairs for years.
In late spring a decade after the founding of Pageclouted, I sent my speardwarves to handle a goblin ambush, using the stationing command. They had no trouble finishing the goblin lashers. When I cancelled the stationing command, one of the spearmasters (one that came in the same immigration wave as the queen, no less) in the squad turned on the queen, and was quickly put down for her trouble.
Edit: I'm on v0.34.02.
Figuring it was a bug, I reverted to my last save. Late spring rolled around once again, and again there was a goblin ambush. I sent in my hammerlords first and the speardwarves to have them try to steal some kills. Once again, the queen was attacked, this time by a hammerlord.
So what might be inciting my dwarves to treason? How might I avoid it? Was it a bad idea to conscript the monarch in the first place? Has this happened to anyone else?
As a side note, all of the dwarves in my fortress are at content or better (except the queen, who's at fine), so it probably isn't a tantrum.
