I have a question. What the hell were you playing as?

Super Heroes

1) you lost your miner in the process.  this could be construed as either a good or a bad thing, depends on his level of cheesemaking.
2) it is beyond cheap that you can lock the doors to a necromancer's tower. 
   a) the doors should be guarded by undead sentries
   b) even were you to reach them, it should be impossible to forbid a door that you did not place yourself
      i) or at least should require a dwarf to reach them physically..

Im thinking it would be more dwarfy to tunnel from the tower basement into a candy spire, funneling all sorts of !FUN! upwards like a fountain of death.  This would of course require some kind of automated system of hatches powered by a drowning goblin captive of some sorts..

Unfortunately, I botched the attempt to do this without killing the miner. I did also do this without locking the doors, but it took too long to make a movie. Basically just widen the perimeter so they don't see you as you dig.

Oh geez. Now I have an image of a lone, industrious dwarf looking to avenge his entire civilization digging out a hollow shaft all the way down to the magma sea (or beyond!)... then looking on with grim satisfaction as he digs out the final support, watching an entire tower fall straight into the earth...

next time:
-magma pump stack to the top of the tower
-poke hole in ceiling
-enjoy your new oven
