Anyway, further clues.


I was a tall statue, crowned with green.

But then, ground down, death to feed the machine.

Still I survived, and people did free me

For what purpose, I cannot say - perhaps they saw it on TV?

I will be a record for all that is done

Though I do not weigh even a tonne.

I will speak to you in silence, and give you vision without pictures

Even though I could even have been dentures.

...a tree? That fits your last bit fairly well, mostly, sort of, but I'm not sure how it would match the first two.

I also considered a Christmas tree for the representing death and life bit, but that doesn't actually fit after all.
