I'm just astonished that he manage to pasture a kitten.  I know the dwarves manage it somehow, but my real-life experience with cats is that putting them in a room and telling them to stay there just doesn't work that well.

This is what I was worried about, but there have definitely been no FB attacks... I'm going to have to put it down to a bug for now. I mean, I live above an aquifer 100's of z's deep (based on my assumption of a single tile being a 10'x10'x10' cube), so I've never even seen my native cavern layers.

No, the creatures of dwarf fortress live on a 4-dimensional plane, meaning that we can only observe them as a 3-dimensional projection in our world. The world itself is 3-dimensional, so 10x10x10m is accurate. The reason the kitten could produce so much vomit is that it was storing it in its 4-dimensional body.

Of course! It all makes perfect sense now! Indeed, the explanation to this explanation is encouraging, as it implies that the next release is so good, so cosmically and universally awesome, that it is not only seeping into the reality of the "real" world, but through time itself.
