This right here is basically why the Samurai was a walking armory. Katana or No-dachi, Wakizashi, Tanto, Bow and arrows, Spear of some kind, Tessen (iron fan, for blocking and use as a club), Jutte (sword-blocking truncheon).

You forgot the gun. Samurai used them too ; Mushashi explain its use in his book.

Nah, I didn't forget. It was either list spear and bow or matchlock rifle, and I'm not sure what era we're in. Given that most of us enjoy pre renaissance fantasy, I went with the spear and bow.
