Too many cave-in messages

I just collapsed 2 z-levels of soil in my magma pipe. Then the game paused with the "a section of the cavern has collapsed" message. When I tried to unpause, it paused-messaged again. And again. And again.
When I look at my announcements, I have more than 500 "a section of the cavern has collapsed" messages. Each time I unpause, it pauses again and it adds 1 to the message count.

if you go into the options and whatnot you can turn off these sort of messages, i think, then its just a matter of waiting.

i may be wrong though...

I tried setting [CAVEINS:NO] in init.txt. It worked : I got a few more messages after I had reset it to YES but it stopped after 2 or 3.
