Being on a ringed planet would be awesome, and now that I think about it, there doesn't seem to be much fiction which takes place on them.
In Pikmin, the planet Hocotate has two rings on it.
Back on subject, I think a universe generator would be very fun.

This is a side-effect of dwarven animal training (hit animal with hammer until it forgets that it hates you, then lovingly cuddle it).

Sorry mate but this is a medieval themed fantasy game and not a space strategy

1) For argument purposes, there's only one small step from turning fantasy into science-fiction.

2) The possible inclusion of magic is not completely far-fetched in a fantasy setting, and portals to other worlds is just a small step away again. So it's not entirely irrelevant and unrelated if that is the path Toady wishes to take in the long-run.

3) Just because the game is a medieval fantasy game does not mean that a more intricate, elaborate "world" generator couldn't be added, including solar systems with other planets. Easy enough to throw details into Legends, make famous named constellations able to be engraved. Doesn't turn the game into a "space strategy" at all.
