1st of Limestone, 1054

Autumn. The transition from summer to winter. The transition from hot to col- Where was I? Oh right, journal. We're at autumn.

4th of Limestone, 1054

Kilakan came to me and said he gained more expierience or something. Began digging a huge statue garden.

11th of Limestone, 1054

Great. The cave river has caused our only mason to be swept into the depths. I'm not sure whether to blame the river or the mason. Well, the spring migrants might bring a mason or two. This is the second time our population dropped below our starting seven.

17th of Limestone, 1054

The caravan! We've produced no trade goods! Oh. Right. My mechanisms! Nomash LovedHammers to the rescue!

25th of Limestone, 1054

I made a few more mechanisms while the traders came to our depot. Also, the caravan gave me an idea for our defense!

26th of Limestone, 1054

All I got out of the traders was a few plump helmets...

10th of Sandstone, 1054

We've struck tin ore! Now we can have bronze! At least, I think casserite is a copper ore... But malachite is! And I'm sure we can find that.

14th of Sandstone, 1054

The caravan told us about roads and human wagons. Then they starting packing up.

23rd of Sandstone, 1054

A miner found a deep chasm! I wonder what matter of horrors lie within!

2nd of Timber, 1054

Migrants! So early! Awesome! I'll do a head count later. Umm... The migrants told me they found a dead axedwarf. Free armor and weapons! Anyway, I count 5 peasants, 1 jeweler, 2 carpenters, 1 craftsdwarf, and 1 metalsmith. Oh, and 1 fisherdwarf. I told 2 of the peasants to take up masonry, and the other 3 became our military. Two go into crossbows, one went into axeing. The new axedwarf had a strange name, Gaaben. Oh, and - (The rest of the entry is covered in blood.)

18th of Timber, 1054 by Derm, Miner

Nomal was hurt bad. It's two red wounds. At least, I think that's bad. A horde of mandrills raided us and stole some armor and weapons. We needed those axes!

Winter Summary: A death, a caravan, and a wounded dwarf. And some mandrills.

Spoiler: Fort (click to show/hide)

So, I found Nomar hurt by our moat. Probably an elephant. Maybe same one that killed the axedwarf. Hopefully she'll make it.

As it turns out, the pen was in fact a poor choice for melee combat in comparison to the sword.
So I just started playing this game and I accidentally nuked the moon.

Winter:

1st of Moonstone, 1054

I write this from my bed in the corridor. Derm says I have two red-level wounds on my left hand and left upper leg.

2nd of Moonstone, 1054

The statue garden has been opened! How nice!

9th of Moonstone, 1054

A room made for clothesmaking shops has been designated for digging. Mass building of roads has been going on.

12th of Moonstone, 1054

I told Derm to tell any mechanics that come by to build some traps.

17th of Moonstone, 1054

The mud is drying up.

7th of Opal, 1054

Oh, I forgot to say that the second farm is ready except for floodagate and doors. And the channel to the river was dug without a miner dieing!

20th of Opal, 1054

Winter's pretty boring. Maybe that's a good thing. Anyway, Kilakan has begun digging out the worker-class quarters.

2nd of Obsidian, 1054

Our craftsdwarf has begun collecting webs and weaving them into silk.

Winter Summary: Started digging out bedrooms, second farm, statue garden, and refuse stockpile.

Would you guys mind if I just put the entire exported image in the Fort picture? It means you have to save it and view it to get a good zoomed in picture. Or I could figure out how to put it on DFMA. Also, it would be great if you guys could cobble together some journal entries or something so I know how to write about your characters. Or just for some backstoy fun.

EDIT : Nomal has been stricken by melancholy. Anyone specific you would like to hear the story from? Otherwise I'll just take a random mechanic as Nomal's apprentice that came here. Or something. I have such bad luck.

Sorry for lack of a picture. Imgur is bugging out on me.

1st of Granite, 1055

It's spring! We've been here an enitre year! But, I've getting pretty unhappy lately. Being stuck in a bed for months isn't going to help.

3rd of Granite, 1055

Kilakan has been given the first bedroom in the entire fortress! Also, my room of levers is getting dusty. Maybe that's why I'm so unhappy.

10th of Granite, 1055

Derm told me that the cave river was overflowing. I have absolutely no idea how he could see so far through the dark river tunnel.

28th of Granite, 1055

I'm so miserable...

28th of Granite, 1055 by Derm, Miner

It appears that Nomal has been stricken by melancholy...

6th of felsite, 1055 by Jacen

I have arrived at this hole in the ground! As have quite a few others, including a strange dwarf who thinks he is under the illusion siege engines work good. With this migration, the residents tell me we have 38 dwarves. Nomal, the dwarf I picked to lead this fort, has been stricken by melancholy from wounds supposedly inflicted by an elephant.

18th of Felsite, 1055

Well, except for the lack of a lever, the second farm is ready to be watered. With three farm hands the planting is going pretty well too.

Spring Summary: Migrants, second farm, bedrooms, and lots of error messages. Also, barracks.

12th of Hematite, 1055

The humans came right at the cave river flood. Luckily no dwarves were lost. The humans did not bring wagons as our roads weren't finished.

21st of Hematite, 1055

The soldiers bedrooms are going to be dug out once the miners are ready.

6th of Malachite, 1055

Mosus Bidokcerol withdrew from society!

7th of Malachite, 1055

He needs ore that we'll never get in time! I've stationed Gaaben's squad around the metalsmiths forge.

17th of Malachite, 1055

I caught dwarves hauling human armor and weapons in. They stated the human was dead and according to the Dwarf Laws it belonged to the fortress now.

2nd of Galena, 1055

Feb, our previous jeweler has become skilled enough in fish cleaning to be called a fisherdwarf. Also, one of our axedwarf recruits said he renamed himself Ahra.

9th of Galena, 1055

Our road has been finished! Say hello to civilization, Gearedlast.

20th of Galena, 1055

The metalsmith blew the bucket, and Gaaben proceeded to chop his head off.

Summer Summary: Humans, road, trade goods, military.

Spoiler: Fort (click to show/hide)
