Nope. Have him keep the blindfold on, then order him to swing a heavy stick for a while to increase his strength, and give him some sort of knowledge of swordplay.

He'd have to fight people with weapons eventually, giving him some understanding of what he'll be fighting will be pretty pivotal in his training.
