We're teaching him for free because we picked him up off the street. He didn't come to us to learn, we went to him to teach.

Perhaps, but we need to make money somehow, and we're Sensei. If you can think of a way to profit in this line of work other than shaking down students for cash, I'm all ears.

We're a master assassin with the strength of the iron fist, we can challenge a dojo or take assassination missions if we have to earn money. This would set back the student's training, but we'd get money!
And as Aklyon said, we could always train the son of a noble the iron fist.

You take the boy to the mountain, but it seems that it would be far better suited to teach him a basic stance, and you even find the perfect spot for it!

Practice Hard-to-knock-backwards Stance. (Replace that with an Animal thats is hard to do that to like Bear Stance or something.)

Seems like an Iron Fist stance. An assassin stance would be more of a leaning forward type thing focused on speed.
