3. Mass building of constructions.

I don't see the most desirable (for me) short-term option, thoguh. I want a better control over military. I don't want the best military dwarves stuck in FG champoin status, where they don't do anything. I also want an easier way to switch dwarves to FG and back to regular military. Etc.

oh, many good choices here..

better agriculture. just making plants require 3 seasons to mature would be enough. Every single hauler plants in spring, then do other business during summer, and every single dwarf runs to harvest during the autumn. during winter food preparation takes off, booze is done and the stockpiles readied to last an entire year. Major pain in the ass to do all this without dforeman.

better siege AI. My last fort spiralled out of fun when the entire economy was centered around refining narrow iron helmet into masterpiece steel swords for export, not to mention the never ending dump narrow silk sock into magma jobs that made everything else come to a halt.

I love the Fill bin job. put me down for that.

1 Completely overhaul jobs
2 Fully customizable/scriptable interface
3 material selection for workshops (kind of goes with 2)

Here are my votes:

1) complete overhaul of job system,
2) combine stacks / better stack handling,
3) resizeable viewport.


Now look; a few of us have voted for things that don't need to be voted for; that can be included in other suggestions.  For example:

(1) priority given to nearby jobs:
kaypy

This could be done with Keldor's "complete overhaul of job system"

(1) change "store items in bin" job(s) to "fill bin with items" job:
gurra_geban

This would also be obsolete and taken care of with Keldor's suggestion.

(8) transport vehicles / better hauling:
Draco18s, GreyMario, Richards, Idiom, Symmetry, Puzzlemaker, Lokysan, Thassa

8 votes that could ALL go to the job overhaul!  And this would be fixed/cleared up.  Eep.

Go to page 1, and read Keldor's post; it's somewhere around the middle of the page.  And stop voting for things if they're already mentioned, or will be taken care of in another vote.  That way we can get our suggestions into the top 3, no?   ;)

Kalimar, you only have 3 votes. Which suggestions will it be out of your list?
Gambler, "mass build constructions" has already been chosen in the last round and cannot be voted for again.
Tylui, some points in the "bigger" suggestions might not be ok for everyone, and also there is the feasability, which gets reduced the more you stuff into a suggestion. That's mainly why some people don't go for the big ones, but create new, smaller fragments of them instead. Which is totally allowed.

I'd like to nominate a suggestion I don't see listed:

Option to turn off Zoom/Pause upon striking new rock.

Striking a new type of rock is very common when doing heavy mining, and being notified about it is completely useless since the new rock is identical to all the old rock you already have too much of.  Ideally, I'd like to see separate options for toggling notification of Rocks, Ores, and Gems, so that the player can continue to find out about ores and gems while ignoring rocks (for example).  This has been suggested before in this thread, and even the wiki mentions how annoying it is.

For my other two votes... hmm, a lot of these are good.  I guess I will vote for resizeable viewport.  And I won't use a third vote, there are several I like and can't decide on one.

When you can't decide on something after really having thought everything through, pick any one of the remaining options. You can still revise your decision later.

I'd like to change my votes to
(*) combine stacks / better stack handling

(*) forbidden area designation

(*) "Skill Synergy" idea, where creatures are skilled in using a material as well as in a specific job (ie legendary woodcrafters would get a goodly bonus to their carpentry skill). See this thread.

Hmm, since this is another round, maybe I should vote for adventure mode changes?

1. Improved dwarven halls
Right now, they're pretty useless, aren't they?

2. Fortress-mode skills
(means more interaction: digging, cooking, workshops, wood-chopping, plant-gathering, etc.)

3. "stop dwarven entrance dance when ordered inside"
Okay I have to put one DF mode suggestion...

Stack management is essential, but it looks like it will hold top place. I'd really like to see "improved siege AI" but perhaps that comes along with "armies"? I'd expect some changes to happen..?
