I repeat my idea to try negative speed, since I'm not, and will not be on a computer with DF for a couple of days.

flying people stay in midair until you move, they then shoot away like a lightning bolt, even for someone at speed one, so you can hit em in midair multiple times, but once you move they blow up.
I wonder if grabbing them cancels the launch(if you move while latched on) or makes you fly with them?
