@Zsword: That's the thing that annoys me - almost all movies / games / books use "mancer", as that is what most people associate with the manipulation of magic / magical abilities. So I go very Latin-Nazi on people who use "mancer" when I don't get enough sleep.

Anyway, how is "necromancer" better than "black mage"? Or "firemancer" than "fire mage"/"fire elementalist"?

Actually a "Black Mage" isn't a Necromancer (even ignoring Final Fantasy).

Yes I am aware of what Necromancy REALLY is...

Also I am also aware that Cryo actually refers to cold temperatures and not ice.

Wait. Necromancy means "black magic" from the renessaince, and "black mage" is obviously a "black magic user". Why not?

Isn't Black magic much more involved then simply speaking to the dead?

Though I guess it all depends on what black magic your refering to.

I think it would just sound better and less generic to call them '*-urges'. Also, yes: '*-mancer's proper use is for diviners. Pyromancers divine using flames, but do not command them. This is an excusable error for people who do not know that, but everyone reading this knows that now, and should use something else when naming something.
