The challenge is stupid.  Dwarven syrup roast mass production ftw!

Optimal starting gear loadout probably looks a lot like:
a few stones (build drawbridge)
a bunch of sweet pod seeds
2 picks
Some starting food/drink
Lots of camel milk

Optimal Dwarves:
Grower/Cook x3
Grower/Thresher x3
Grower/Brewer

Hollow out a lot of soil.  Lay down farm plots as far as the eye can see.  Plant as many sweet pods as possible.

Move the food inside, forbid the camel milk.

Cook the starting food

Harvest Sweet Pods, make into syrup, cook.  Repeat.

Cook the milk with a legendary cook.

Finish.

Edit: Not sure why you think glass is prohibited.  The only actual rules prohibit digging anything but soil - which means glass is perfectly acceptable.  You conclude no glass for who knows what reason.  But glass is just a distraction - the real money here is in syrup roasts.

Argh no no the point is that you try to make the most wealth out wood, bone, leather ands cloths not by cheating and making food ( which takes months to rot!) and what is the difference between doing the syrup spam (which your not supposed to do) in this contest or any other?

So, no food, which means the fort won't last a season. Allowing prepared food, you have to farm syrup roasts until you run out of barrels and then sit around picking berries for 2 seasons because the battle axe is made of metal. Therefore, we get elf story.

Your original challenge didn't say anything about cooking, so you've no right to complain when people rightfully pointed out how cooking completely ruins the challenge.

You also didn't mention decorating ammo, I note.

The whole thing is, I think, rather silly; this challenge simply devolves into "bring all your building supplies with you, and carry on as usual". Sure, you can't mine ore out, but metalworking is far from the most lucrative industry.

Your challenge was to generate as much wealth as possible.

Your rules were: 'no digging stone'.  Apparently also 'no glass' was concluded from that for who knows what reason.

Thus, everyone proposed the logical solution - cook syrup roasts.

The only real question is: how many seeds do you need to embark with to maximize wealth?  (Ie, how big a farm can 7 farmers excavate and plant in the spring?)
