Greetings!
« on: September 28, 2009, 12:16:15 pm »

First of all, I'd like to say hello. I am an avid fan of Dwarf Fortress, and have lurked these forums for many moons now.  ;D

I'd like to know - is it possible for a creature to be part of two entities?  ??? At the moment I am making a mod to include all the races from Dominions 3, a complex fantasy strategy game, into the game. I ask you the question because there are several human races which could all use the same template but have varying ethics, different species of elves etc.  8) This is important because I need to know if I need to make multiple copies of my races.

Thanks in advance!  :)

Pretty sure you can; at least I believe there's a mod that utilizes humans for several different ethnicities.

Thanks a bunch!   ;D I'll try that out later. The new races I've put in so far are working and if legends are to be believed are about in proportion with how powerful they are meant to be. Also, the two fairly neutral races fight the evil race quite alot but avoid each other, which is pretty much what I wanted to do. Perfect!   :D

The mod with humans of "different ethniticies" is mine, and I use different creatures for them because I wanted to make different graphics for each race. If you don't mind them to look similar, you may use a single creature for as many entities as you want. If you want them to look a bit different, just make another creature with the same stats, you can even name both "humans", just make different IDs (CREATURE:####).

Thanks Deon. I must tell you I have tried your fallout mod and enjoy it quite alot  ;D

I'll probably do "different humans" later, at the moment I've got 7 biologically different races and I think I'll add 3 or 4 more before I start doing culturaly varying humans. May even do some dwarven clans, any suggestions anyone?

My question is, can you have multiple creatures in one entity?

As I understand it, not yet.  But probably someday.

Yeah, multiple creatures for one entity doesn't work, the entity file just uses the last creature listed.
