Punk buster can ban you based on the hardware you have, so if you do get banned that way you'll need a new computer.

As I say, it's used very, very rarely.  There is one game I know though which would routinely "Taint" people's harddrives to stop them making new accounts.

Usually an IP ban should be reserved only for the more extreme cases, since it could result in collateral damage (you end up banning a whole range, like an University or even a whole ISP from an entire country, because a lot of IPs aren't fixed.

Like real zombies, there's only so many times they'd get back up again.

Heh, hehe. I just had to quote that.

Like REAL zombies.

I noticed that Yanlin's account still exists after the ban. There have been other times where a banned person's account disappears entirely, their name stops being a link to their profile and just is white letters, and it says "Guest" under their name.

I think they might have deleted their accounts themselves. That's no longer an option.

The UAE has an ISP for the whole country, or something close enough. For some reason, someone is always downloading from rapidshare at any given time of day. I haven't bumped into any IP bans that ban me, since almost no one in the UAE uses internet forums.
